Livin’ In The Love (Hallelujah H-301) 1978
That rural-vibe Jesus folk-rock sound again, and a pretty decent example of it. Paul Westerhoff was half of the duo Theophilus – they’ve got respectable folk album that’s worth searching for. This trio effort has a fuller sound: Paul and Robin (male) both sing and play acoustic guitar, joined by Cheri on vocals, assisted by five others on drums, percussion, pedal steel, bass and electric guitars. Mostly good acoustic rock and folky 12-string moods, rounded out with a few electric edges here and there. They’d have fit in perfectly on those early Maranatha samplers alongside Parable, Country Faith, The Way, Blessed Hope and Phoenix Sonshine. Includes one song from the Theophilus lp (‘Fallin’ Again’). Nice electric guitar solo on the funky ‘There’ll Be Days’. California custom with connections to Lutheran Youth Alive. (The Archivist by Ken Scott, 4th Edition).
