Ken Gaub Presents… (Skylite SLP-6218) 1979
In the past I had skipped over this group’s lps surmising that everything on the Skylite label was Southern gospel or some derivative. Something about that “Ken Gaub presents” line didn’t get my interest level up either. Finally I picked up this, one of their middle lps and lo and behold found myself pleasantly surprised. In fact on more than one occasion there’s some crunchy r&r, like ‘Child Of Darkness’ or the heavy bridge on the 6/8 ‘Take Jesus Now’. Eternity Express also dabbles with soft rock, country rock, ‘50s rock, disco and an instrumental called ‘Sonata For Ten Thousand Acoustic Guitars’, all with more or less positive results. No strings. I have no idea who Ken Gaub is but the girl and two of the four guys are also Gaubs, so it looks to be a family affair. Carried on into the ‘80s where they eventually became Illustrator. (The Archivist by Ken Scott, 4th Edition).
I noticed that the track list on the rear cover and on the label S2 are different with Responsible and Can You Feel It are in opposite order. I have used the track list from the label for the track list. diakoneo
Thank you Ken for the front cover photo and Discogs for the label and rear cover photos and track list.
