Together In Eternity (Listen L1280) 1980

Don and Jackie Cusic. Nashville guy/gal twosome whose custom record alternates between Jamie Owens-ish soft rock and pastoral folk expressions ala Emmylou Harris. There’s a refreshing rural/country element to their music and vocals, but none of the polished gospel edges you often get from Nashville folks. Mostly Jackie in the lead vocal position, including some exceptionally lovely ballads. Simple natural arrangements make use of such instruments as violin (‘Silent Surrender’, ‘Praise You Father’), dulcimer (‘Psalm 108’) and harmonica (‘Song To The Son’). Don also gets a couple vocal opportunities, such as on the brief laid-back finger-picked ‘The Cover Of Time’ and the loping country title track. Both are pictured on the back with acoustic guitars, plus there are several assisting musicians who I assume add the electric guitars, keyboards, bass and drums All their own songs. Not a bad album at all. (The Archivist by Ken Scott, 4th Edition).
