Postcard To Home (M7 MLF 053) 1974 Australia *

Subtitled Songs For A Mother’s Love. That’s right, a concept 1p about mothers. Ain’t that special? The boys do versions of obscure titles like ‘Play Mama Play’, ‘Silver Hair & Heart Of Gold’, ‘The World’s Greatest Mum’, ‘M-O-T-H-E-R’, ‘A Mother As Lovely As You’, a couple originals, all done with their usual brassy commercial pop-rock finesse. Stookey’s ‘Wedding Song’ and The Beatles’ ‘All My Loving’ were the only titles I recognized. Lots of variety in the music, including glances back to the ‘20s, Broadway and the big band era, plus a couple hints of mid-‘70s Bee Gees. I imagine their mamas must have been mighty proud. Gate-fold cover. (The Archivist, 4th Edition by Ken Scott).

I have not acquired this album yet. Thank you Donald for the rear cover photo and track list.
