Generation (Unison BRC 021) 1972? Australia *

Generation is a noteworthy compilation of studio recordings from five different Australian Christian artists, all of whom play in a simple acoustic folk format. Strawberry Jam is the largest group with six members, doing straightforward co-ed ‘60s-minded versions of ‘Drinking Gourd’ and ‘Hey Nelly Nelly’. The one dude’s bass is a hoot – looks like a string attached to a wooden crate and pole. The three guys and one girl known as Threshold contribute three wholesome numbers; ‘Lazarus’, ‘Pass It On’ and ‘Don’t It Make You Wanna Go Home’. In the duo category are the gals Libby & Luggs with two nice original songs, ‘What Do You Think’ and ‘Let Me Tell You ‘Bout’. Will & Dave McAulay perform ‘Wake Up My Mind’, Simon & Garfimkel’s ‘Most Peculiar Man’ and Sydney Carter’s ‘Standing In The Rain’. That leaves folksinger Jeff Vickers to go it solo on ‘Melody’ and ‘The Love’, both originals. From the Presbyterian Fellowship of Australia. (The Archivist, 4th Edition by Ken Scott).

I have not acquired this album yet. Thank you Ken for the front cover photo and for the track list.  Thank you Donald for the rear cover photo.
