Good Jesus Music Inside (Superior S-10024) 1973?

Studio cuts from four different bands are featured on this custom compilation. Unfortunately the two best bands only get one song each. Haugen’s Bluegrass Gospel Band sounds just like their name as they do a crisp rendition of ‘I Saw The Light’. Tim Briggs (who has a notable solo album on this same label) and John Lloyd provide a rural acoustic number called ‘Jesus, Lead Me Home’ that resembles early Mark Heard. The four songs by Congregation II are more for fans of contemporary gospel ensembles. Old Fashioned Idea fares a little better with four pop songs. I think that might be Honeytree singing lead on their slow gospelly cover of ‘Jesus Loves Me’ – she’s listed as arranger for one of the group’s other songs. That coupled with Briggs appearance suggests this record might have come out of fellowships in Fort Wayne, Indiana. (The Archivist, 4th Edition by Ken Scott).

I have not acquired this album yet. Thank you Donald for the rear cover photo and track list.
