New Life (Discovery 7001) 1972?

Easygoing country, folk and light rock lp that sinks in after a few listens. Same label as those early Marj Snyder lps – in fact she joins in on background vocals on ‘We’re Gonna Live Forever’. John Fischer is in here as well lending guitar to three songs. Mostly a mellow sound with acoustic guitar and piano (sometimes electric piano) fronted by Goins’ soft vocals. A small orchestra assists on a couple covers from the obscure Mustardseed group (‘Shepherd Song’, ‘Someone, Somewhere’). Versions of ‘I Wish We’d All Been Ready’, ‘Sweet Sweet Song Of Salvation’, ‘Little Country Church’, but the best songs are his own ones, including ‘Shout Hallelujah’, the soft jazzy ‘Prayer Of Thanksgiving For Children” and the steel-guitar country tune ‘Hard To Believe’. (The Archivist, 4th Edition by Ken Scott).

I have not acquired this album yet. Thank you Ken for the front cover photo and rateyourmusic track list.  Thank you Donald for the rear cover photo.
