Here’s Joey (no label PJ-3001) 1972?
Joey deserves a Spot in the Christian Dummy Hall of Fame right between Jiggers and Little Marcy. The poor little guy was a normal puppet until Phylis Barnard (wife of evangelist David Barnard) got hold of him and plastered on the freckles, gaudy false eyelashes and black wig. Phylis supplies Joey with one of the most wonderfully neurotic and abrasive high-pitched voices you’ll ever hear. Best listened to in a room with a very high ceiling, cuz when Joey starts singing and hits those sudden unexpected loud yelps, you’re sure to be catapulted straight through the roof. When he’s not singing, he’s typically in conversation with either David or Phylis via organ-backed routines like ‘Joey’s School Report Card’, ‘Traveling ,With Joey’ 0r ‘Socked In The Nose’ He’s got a killer laugh, too. Two different covers available: one with just Joey on the front, the other with both Joey and Phylis (her beehive could launch a thousand ships!). (The Archivist, 4th Edition by Ken Scott).
I have not acquired this album yet. Thank you Discogs for the cover photos and track list.
