Peace And Joy And Power (Christian Science Publishing Society

408) 1970

Both these recordings are soothing classical folk ala John Michael Talbot with soft soothing vocals backed by acoustic guitar, bass Viol, harpsichord and wooden flute (with string orchestration, piano, oboe, accordion and harp added on Green Pastures). Very peaceful kind of sound with melodies often borrowed from European folk songs. Lyrics are typically in the style of old traditional hymns including a few from Scripture and a cover of Isaac Watts’ ‘0 God, Our Help In Ages Past’, but take note of the footnote on each album making reference to Christian Science and interpret accordingly. He’s got numerous other albums on bigger labels, including the one with his 1976 hit ‘Junkfood Junkie’. (The Archivist, 4th Edition by Ken Scott).

I have not acquired this album yet. Thank you Ken for the front cover photo and Discogs for the rest of album photos and Donald for the track list.
