For Him Who Has Ears To Hear (Sparrow SPR-1015) 1977
Keith Green will primarily be remembered as the prophetic voice in ccm, with a message that focused on obedience and commitment to God. He also happened to be a fine pianist and songwriter, no doubt due in part to his background in the secular music industry prior to his conversion. For Him Who Has Ears To Hear is one of ccm’s finest debuts – a Jesus music classic in an orchestrated keyboard rock, pop and ballads style comparable to artists like Billy Joel or Elton John. Filled with the presence of new-found joy, the album introduced such time-honored songs as ‘You Put This Love In My Heart’, ‘Because Of You’, ‘When I Hear The Praises Start’ and of course the stirring ballad ‘Your Love Broke Through’ (co-written with Todd Fishkind and Randy Stonehill). ‘He’ll Take Care Of The Rest’ showed Keith’s humorous side. while ‘No One Believes In My Anymore (Satan’s Boast)’ began the tradition of each album having a “devil song”. Closes with a vibrant cover of 2nd Chapter’s ‘Easter Song’ with an additional verse written by Keith. Includes assistance from Bill Maxwell, Mike Deasy, Harlan Rogers, Danniebelle and several others. (The Archivist, 4th Edition by Ken Scott).
I have not acquired this album yet. Thank you Discogs for the album photo and track list.
