One Cold Friday (Century One R-1202LP) 1978

While occasionally side stepping into MOR, One Cold Friday for the most part offers up an intelligent gentle rural acoustic rock style similar to Mark Heard’s On Turning To Dust and Apalachrian Melody. Blake plays both electric and acoustic guitars along with piano and synthesizer, while other musicians fill in bass, drums, additional guitar and steel guitar. From simple folk ballads (‘A Love Song’) to softly strolling country rock (‘Restless Cowboy’) to heavier old-style Petrafied rock (‘Lonely Child’). A 1000 press item from Arkansas. (The Archivist, 4th Edition by Ken Scott).
