Sunny Sounds (Prestige PP 74-213) 1974

Ann Marie (no last name given) is from Moselle, Mississippi. and has two “little wooden friends”: Sunny (aka Sunshine, the female dummy) and Jackie (the male dummy). Side one is Sunny’s side, recorded in the studio. The Little Marcy influence is undeniable – in fact she’s virtually indistinguishable from Little Marcy as she sings six squeaky piano backed gospel songs, some of them with little squeaky spoken intros. Sunny does a couple more songs on the flip, then it’s Jackie’s turn for some live-before-an-audience routines and songs in classic Geraldine & Ricky fashion. He presents his squeaky testimony, followed by the song ‘Wooden Heart’ which is basically ‘Pass It On’ with lyrics changed to sing about how he loves Jesus in his little wooden heart. He also sings ‘Happy Side’ and ‘This Little Light’. Together he and Ann Marie talk about the need to let the Lord pull the strings in your life. Handsome cover photograph showing Ann Marie and the cowboy-hatted Jackie. (The Archivist, 4th Edition by Ken Scott).

I have not acquired this album yet. Thank you Donald for the rear cover photo and track list.
