Andy & Cheri With The Pratt Family Zoo (LTD 4006) 1974?
Dummies and puppets galore, courtesy of the Pratt Family, including John Pratt (Master of Ceremonies and Minister), Lafem Pratt (piano), but primarily Pam Pratt (puppet voices). In the dummy category are Cheri and Andy, the latter of whom I’m tempted to liken to a boyhood caricature of Prince Charles. Also ten cool-looking primitive handmade puppets which appear to be different animals, four of which appear on the recording. The usual entertaining mix of live organ-backed routines, Southern accents and songs sung in goofy little voices. Highlights include Andy’s hillbilly voice, Herkemer the Frog singing ‘I Believe God’, Daisy the Duck singing ‘This Little Light Of Mine’ and Neno the Elephant’s constant nagging for a peanut. Cheri’s renderings of ‘I’m So Happy’ and ‘We’ve Got A Great Big Wonderful God’ are pretty close to Little Marcy. Hand-drawn color illustrations of the puppets / dummies on the front, photos of the same on the back. They apparently had some connections with the Little Singing Deweys. Recorded live at a Children’s Crusade in Auburn, California. (The Archivist, 4th Edition by Ken Scott).
I have not acquired this album yet. Thank you Ken for the front cover photo.
