Time Was Now (Westwood WRSOS4) 1975 UK *
As was the case with Words You Left Behind, Time Was Now mainly presents simple yet elegant acoustic versions of traditional and popular songs. The few songs that I did recognize (‘Annie’s Song’, ‘Four Strong Winds’, ‘The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down’, ‘Wild Flying Dove’) find new beauty in her sensitive interpretations. Other titles include ‘Darcy Farrow’, ‘Farewell She’, ‘Bolberry Down’, ‘The Corner Café’ and ‘Cool Summer Wine’, the latter an original song written by Jancis. Features Jancis on 6 and 12-string guitars, autoharp and mandolin, plus two assisting musicians on electric bass and additional acoustic guitars. Perfectly captures that British female folk sound. (The Archivist, 4th Edition by Ken Scott).
I have not acquired this album yet. Thank you Ken for one front cover photo and Discogs for the other front cover and track list.
