Hakamu ’74 (Christopher CH-104LP) 1974 Canada *
This one’s actually a fairly nice record. They’ve trimmed their membership down to thirteen, written all their own songs and added vibrant bongo percussion to their simple jangly acoustic folk sound. Better production allows the acoustic guitar work to sparkle. Also banjo and harmonica in spots. Still could have benefited from a bit less unison singing, but ultimately quite listenable. ‘Share ‘Hey, Searcher’, ‘Reflections’, ‘Live Life’, ‘The Grass Withers’, ‘Never Prayed Before’, six more. From Aurora, Ontario. Hakamu is a Hebrew word that means an ability or skill. (The Archivist, 4th Edition by Ken Scott).
I have not acquired this album yet. Thank you Ken for the front cover photo. Thank you Donald for the rear cover photo and track list.
