Lovers Of God (PRP 43071/2) 1972

Similar fragile folk realms on this excellent follow-up. Nice dreamy presence and stirring harmonies surrounding tracks like ‘He Thinks On Me’, ‘Abiding In Him’ and ‘Because The Lord Is Loving’, the latter delicately enhanced with flute and viola. Also some pleasant solo acoustic ballads (‘Song Of The Scriptures’ and ‘When It’s Real’), featuring members Steve Estes and Chuck Winter respectively. Vigorous acoustic guitar and electric bass action enliven the opening ‘Same Old Drag’. Even simple strum-and-sing numbers like ‘Unhappy People’ and ‘One Man’ come through imbued with the group’s charm. A very special and creative folk album. (The Archivist, 4th Edition by Ken Scott).
