Letters Job To John (Wild Flower LP 365) 1973? Jamaica *

Ho Lung sets the folk medium aside temporarily to take a stab at… reggae! Ok, so it’s not Bob Marley, but it does have a surprising air of authenticity, especially on edgier tracks like ‘Going To The Eastern City’, ‘Gun Man. Ganja Man, Or Son Of Messiah’ and ‘Sinner’ (which has some dub horn effects). Even the mellower more wistful tracks stroll along gracefully to gentle island rhythms. Bass, organ and electric rhythm guitar are prominently featured. Some cool tremolo guitar on ‘Road Block’. Lead vocals by Danny Harrison. No real worship or evangelistic lyrics this time, instead focusing on the poor and urban life. (The Archivist, 4th Edition by Ken Scott).

I have not acquired this album yet. Thank you Ken for the front cover photo. Thank you Discogs for the label and rear cover photos and track list.
