Opening Up (Genesis GS 5006) 1979 Australia *

Eleven-member Australian pop-rock outfit with melodic style and male/female harmonies that bring to mind a lesser 2nd Chapter Of Acts. Of course the fact that they do a few 2CA songs might be a contributing factor, as suggested by covers of ‘Which Way The Wind Blows’, ‘Which Way’s The Light?’ and ‘Mansion Builder’. Mostly mellow light―rock zones tempered by piano, brass and string synthesizer, though they do manage to rock out a wee bit here and there, prime examples being their versions of Larry Norrnan’s ‘Why Should The Devil Have All The Good Music?’ and ‘Hey, Watcha Say’ (the latter being one of 2nd Chapter’s more rocking selections). They also perform a number of their own songs. Closes with a swinging instrumental version of ‘The Saints’ (i.e., ‘When The Saints Go Marching In’). Laminated gate-fold cover. Same Australian label as Randall Waller’s Oasis.    (The Archivist, 4th Edition by Ken Scott).
