Live (Listen LF2004) 1974

A rather mellow live performance of MOR, folk/pop, ballads and praise. ‘Simple Song’ is a corny little tune that introduces each member of the band and states where they’re from, while also working in a section of The Carpenters’ ‘Sing’. The horseplay shifts into fiddle-backed country for ‘Jesus Style’ where the audience is encouraged to pronounce “heart” in Texas fashion (i.e., “Gonna change your hort”). A piano gospel rendition of ‘Precious Lord’, an a cappella hymn (‘My God’), a cover of ‘Easter Song’, plus versions of their own songs from prior lps. Lifted from performances from Peoples Church in Tacoma, Washington and a Corrie ten Boom rally in Salem, Oregon. (The Archivist, 4th Edition by Ken Scott).
