Joy Band (no label 101080) 1980

Obscure one from five West Palm Beach, Florida guys with a good progressive rural-edged soft rock sound featuring melodic piano in the foreground, joined by electric guitar leads and occasional synthesizer accompaniment. A good deal of lively material from the banjo-pickin’ ‘Broken Man’, to ‘Jesus Is The One’ which gets down with a moving fuzz solo. ‘Star Lighter’ pulls a Foreigner move by swiping the piano riff from ‘Cold As Ice’. A few gentle ballads, but nothing I’d put in the fluff category. Eleven songs presented within a simple competent homemade environment. Attractive blue cover illustration of band logo with sea-side coconut-laden palm tree. (The Archivist, 4th Edition by Ken Scott).

I have not acquired this album yet. Thank you Ken for the front cover photos.  Thank you Donald for the rear cover photo and the song list.
