Song Circling The Earth (Praise PRS369) 1979 Canada *

Mellow songs, mostly in a piano-and-guitar format, with nice songwriting and sugar-free natural appeal. As usual it’s Kris on lead vocals and Ron on keyboards (piano, synthesizer, string ensemble), rounded out by others on acoustic guitar, bass, banjo, percussion and flute. “Too quiet and too much piano” was my initial impression, but after a few listens I found myself drawn to several tracks. From simple acoustic songs to piano praise/ballads to light rock with synths. ‘Move Me To Crying’, “When Jesus Sat Down At The Lakeshore’, ‘The Daughter Of Jairus’, ‘Faith, While Trees Are Still In Blossom’, six more. Mostly original music to borrowed texts, plus a cover of Jim Strathdee’s ‘Come, Lord Jesus’. From Naramata, British Columbia. (The Archivist, 4th Edition by Ken Scott).
