Abba, Father (NALR L77) 1977
Here’s where Landry shifted toward choral folk, as did most of the Catholic music scene. Acoustic guitar and Landry’s sensitive vocals are still the primary focus, while the choir, strings, woodwinds and brass fortunately bring more of a classical edge to the music as opposed to easy listening (most of the time anyway). The bold trumpet things didn’t do a whole lot for me, but the ballads can be quite moving, especially the title track, ‘Dance In The Darkness’ and ‘With What Great Love’. Subtitled Prayer Songs Of Rev. Carey Landry. (The Archivist, 4th Edition by Ken Scott).
I have not acquired this album yet. Thank you Ken for the front cover photo. Thank you Discogs for the track list. Thank you Donald for the inside gate-fold and rear cover photos.
