In Concert (Word Of God W/G 7607) 1976

Most of the lps by this Ann Arbor, Michigan Word Of God Community band are gonna be too easy listening for this book’s targeted audience, but this one cooks with so much energy I just had to list it. This co-ed 9 person band plays high-powered folk/praise with guitars, piano, solid percussion, even some garagy electric guitar. The lead singers have excellent voices that would seem more suited to inspirational music like Sandi Patti or Lamelle Harris, but they fare quite well in the folk mode. It’s the live format I’m sure that enables them to bristle with excitement – quite a contrast to their very mellow polished studio productions. A few originals, plus covers of Tom Parker, Paul Quinlan, and Children Of The Day. (The Archivist, 4th Edition by Ken Scott).

I have not acquired this album yet. Thank you Donald for the rear cover photo.
