I Heard The Lord Call My Name (Big Rock BRL-7504) 1975?
That would be Mary as in Mary Hopp, guitarist, singer and arranger of yet another fine homemade recording that tapped into that male/female Catholic folk sound. The Disciples are five male musicians/singers of the same local parish. They’re particularly on the cusp when joined by electric guitar and organ, bringing a crisp plugged-in folk-rock edge to ‘Our Father’ and ‘A Voice Cries Out’. Mary’s voice sounds quite lovely on their moving cover of Gregory Norbet’s ‘All I Ask Of You’ which also has a wistful violin melody. Also a very beautiful acoustic original entitled ‘Jacob’s Song” ‘Were You There’, ‘Day Is Done’, ‘Let There Be Peace On Earth’, The Dameans’ ‘Without Clouds’. From Sacred Heart Church, Aurora, Illinois. A fairly bland cover photo, but at least it’s tinted pink. (The Archivist, 4th Edition by Ken Scott).
I have not acquired this album yet. Thank you Donald for the rear cover photo and the track list.
