What’s Life All About? (Martin 7-7810) 1970?
The Martin label holds true to its low-tech basic strumming-through-the standards format for this recording from acoustic guitar buddies Jerry Meredith and Scott Dunbar. Here’s your chance to hear them singing ‘Cuckoo’, ‘Coal Tattoo’, ‘The Good Times We Had’, ‘Sounds Of Silence’, ‘Blind Man’s Bluff”, ‘Yesterday, Today And Tomorrow’, etc. Usually just one voice and a guitar on most of these, so it sounds more like a solo performance rather than a duo. In fact it sounds like an Ed Kilboume album. Oh gee, look – it’s produced by Ed Kilbourne! Joined by a small black choir for the closing numbers ‘Rock My Soul’ and ‘Amen’. Jerry and Scott were also members of The Proclamation, a folk group that released an album on this same custom label. (The Archivist, 4th Edition by Ken Scott).
