Take Me Home (RFRC 101) 1975?

Michael Lapides and Jan Vogel look and sound like your basic ‘70s traveling Jesus coffeehouse folksingers. Natural acoustic sound throughout this custom 1p, with just guitars and occasional tambourine. Sometimes they sing together, other times it’s just Jan or just Michael. Jan’s vocals can be kind of loose and free at times, losing a bit of control in the upper register – I like that. They work secular songs into their program (“songs of depression and uselessness” they call them) such as ‘Ventura Highway’, ‘Mr. Bojangles’ and ‘Killing Me Soflly’. The Christian angle is covered Via titles like ‘All Good Gifts’, ‘1 Wish We’d All Been Ready’ and Malcolm & Alwyn’s ‘Tomorrow’s News’ (neat echoed vocal effects on the latter). Best songs are the ones they wrote themselves, including the title track, ‘Oh Lord, I Want To See You’, ‘People Turn To Jesus’, ‘Jesus Loves You And Me’ and ‘Enjoying My Lord’s Creation’. Jan formerly sang in a Philadelphia group called The New Freedom. Cover is a single flimsy piece folded in half, taped at the top and bottom. (The Archivist, 4th Edition by Ken Scott).

I have not acquired this album yet. Thank you Donald for the rear cover photo and the track list.
