Seven Whole Days (Move MS 3004) 1970? Australia *
Similar commendable set of contemporary folk/jazz songs, sometimes rhythmic with a beat, sometimes slow and moody, alternating various male and female lead vocalists. Instruments include electric bass, acoustic and electric guitars, harpsichord, percussion and flute, with piano and Vibraphone usually providing the jazz elements. Solemn mysterious edges to a few songs, including ‘You Can’t Do More Than That’, ‘Like The Deer That Yearns’ and the stunningly beautiful ‘Look Out On The Sea’. Jim writes the music while using lyrics from various sources, including Sydney Carter for ‘Come, Love, Carolling’ and ‘Bird Of Heaven’, the latter a lovely acoustic ballad with female vocals. (The Archivist, 4th Edition by Ken Scott).
I have not acquired this album yet. Thank you Donald for the rear cover photo and the track list.
