Songs Of Protest And Love (FEL S-292) 1968
consistent lp from the Rev and his wife, attempting everything from ‘60s big beat folk/pop with strings, to a side-long horn-plastered jazz-rock mass, to loungy covers of Burt Bacharach (‘Windows Of The World’) and Ed Ames (‘My Cup Runneth Over’). None of these are particularly grabbing, though there are some sloppy electric guitar riffs scattered about. I suppose the songs in the “protest” category would be Mitchell’s self-written ‘Kill I Never Will’ and Caroline’s beautiful acoustic-backed cover of ‘Birmingham Sunday’ where she truly lives up to her Joan Baez comparisons. (The Archivist, 4th Edition by Ken Scott).
I have not acquired this album yet. If anyone has this album and can get me the times for side two I will add them to the track list table. Thank you.
