The Greatest Gift (Koinonia KM 101) 1976
This humble melodic California soft rock custom has a few decent songs worthy of attention. Six-person group with amateur home-made sounding combination of acoustic and electric guitars, piano, organ, synthesizer, bass and drums. Songs alternate female and male singers on the lead (the latter sometimes being a tad off pitch). ‘The Way’ has a nice summery vibe enhanced by electric guitar and mellotron. Other originals with merit include ‘Thank You’, ‘Noah’s Days’, ‘King Of The Sun’ and ‘The Mountain’. Of less interest are a few MOR-ish covers like ‘Praise The Lord, He Never Changes’, ‘The Blood Will Never Lose Its Power’ and Erick Nelson’s ‘Pickin’ Up The Pieces’. From Torrance, California. (The Archivist, 4th Edition by Ken Scott).
I have not acquired this album yet. Thank you Donald for the rear cover photo and the track list.
