Jesus Joy (Century 42244) 1972?
Two moderately charming electric folk lps of joyful upbeat songs with drums, bass, tambourine and hand claps keeping the pace while guitars, flute and female harmonies straight outta ‘60s girl groups provide the melody. A Florida group with nine or so members. Homemade sound. Several self-penned songs, plus Torn & Dan’s ‘Happy Are They’, John Ylvisaker’s arrangement of ‘Wade On The Water’ (Jesus Joy), ‘Day By Day’, Ray Repp’s ‘lnto Your Hands’ (Time To Build) and some other obscure covers. No real guitar solos to speak of but still proves to be more than listenable. Time T 0 Build has a gate-fold cover with intriguing black and white artwork of a face of Christ composed of numerous smaller faces. (The Archivist, 4th Edition by Ken Scott).
I have not acquired this album yet. Thank you Donald for the rear cover photo and the track list.
