New Joy (Associated Artists Studio AAS 1883) 1976?
Texas custom produced by Fletch Wiley with Hadley Hockensmith donating his guitar talent. If you’re familiar with those names it shouldn’t surprise you that parts of this album are smooth and jazzy, with some vocal stylings ala First Call or Manhattan Transfer The MOR angle wins out too often for my personal tastes with songs like ‘Give Them All’ and ‘My Tribute’, but I kept it for stuff like the country folk of The Road Home’s ‘Since I Met Jesus’ or that surprisingly heavy mildly funky track that finishes out side one. LeFevre’s ‘Gospel Ship’ gets cranked up a wee bit. (The Archivist, 4th Edition by Ken Scott).
I have not acquired this album yet. Thank you Donald for the rear cover photo and the track list.
