Expressions Of Reverence In Contemporary Sound (Murbo MCS 6017) 1970
Intriguing Methodist brassy choral work that tosses in creative rock elements, along with sassy glimmers of lounge-pop hipsters like Enoch Light and The Bob Crewe Generation. Some cool electric guitar solos cropping up here and there, coupled with periodic mod organ moves, rocking rhythm section, and groovy pumped-up horn action. The playful ‘Immortal, Invisible’ sounds like it could almost be a distant relative to the ‘I Dream Of Jeanie’ TV theme song. Other sample titles include ‘Love Is Everything’, ‘What Ever Happened To What’s His Name’, ‘He Is Coming On’, ‘And Yet Another Congregation’, ‘Turn Us On’ and ‘The Reverse Pater Noster’. Doesn’t pose a threat to the Barbarella soundtrack, but certainly tons more interesting than your standard Christian choral excitement. Lyrics, music and production by Floyd E. Werle. (The Archivist, 4th edition by Ken Scott).
I have not acquired this album yet. Thank you Donald for the rear cover photo and the song list.
