Rejoice (Halcyon HC 1001) 1980
There are some pretty neat examples of early ‘80s hard rock on this Biloxi, Mississippi custom – the kind of sound where synthesizers and guitars are equally prominent. ‘Beginning’ and “Love In The First Degree’ open the album with synths, phased rhythm guitar, fuzz/electric leads, and touches of jazz and funk that recall Tunesmith groups like Love Chapter Band and Third Day. ‘Thief‘ cranks up the fuzz even louder with its primitive hard rock strut. Side two begins with a cover of the Larry Norman retro-rocker ‘Shot Down’. The rest of the tracks are somewhat lighter, more in the soft rock and ballads direction. Definitely worth owning for the heavier stuff. (The Archivist, 4th edition by Ken Scott).
I have not acquired this album yet.
