Live (Parable P—7001-LPS) 1984
With his semi-long hair and numerous missing teeth, Harry might possibly get the award for the most hillbilly-looking of all Christian dummies. Harry and his operator Terry Veazey present four of their routines on this live album, recorded at L-Bar-C Ranch in La Cygre, Kansas. The usual rounds of jokes and storytelling, including that ‘Three Trees’ thing that all the Christian ventriloquists seemed to do. As with Captain Hook, there’s an altered version of ‘Jesus Loves The Little Children’, but the crowning piece would have to be their version of Danniebelle’s ‘Ordinary People’, complete with orchestral accompaniment tape, alternating Terry’s serious traditional singing with Harry’s horse’s-rear-end crooning. The stories of Jonah and David & Goliath are also presented with numerous interruptions from Harry. An earnest presentation from a very likeable twosome, with a classic cover photo to boot. (The Archivist, 4th edition by Ken Scott).
I have not acquired this album yet.
