A New Beginning (September DS 1409) 1981
Young Catholic folk-singer’s collection of calm melodic original songs, along with a few covers like ‘Babylon’ and the St. Louis Jesuits’ ‘Be Not Afraid’. Backed primarily by acoustic guitar, occasionally expanded to include piano, flute, bass, synthesized strings and female bgvs. Despite the later date, his style is comparable to many of those ‘70s male Catholic folk artists. Okay stuff for the most part, although I must say he really outdoes himself on ‘Psalm’, 3 beautiful solemn mesmerizing piece with dreamy flute and mellotron-like strings. Kalamazoo, Michigan private press. (The Archivist, 4th edition by Ken Scott).
I have not acquired this album yet. It appears from my research online that Bob has released several additional albums or CDS’s over the years. Thank you Donald for the rear cover photo.
