Runnin’ Thru The Fire (Shekinah SI-IM 1019) 1980

Saved By Grace-Runnin'-front

Reduced to a trio, Saved By Grace followed up with this more focused release that stays true to a jangly rural acoustic rock sound (Bass had retired to release his own project on this same label). That leaves Russ Scalzo on acoustic guitar and percussion, Jim Bova on bass, and Bert Wilcox on acoustic guitar, lead electric guitar and piano. All three provide vocals. Ten songs, all written by the band. Decent simple guitar work and appealing natural harmonies, sometimes drawing near the sound of bands like The Way and Pat Terry Group. Plenty of good cordial relaxed countryside vibes comin’ through on titles like ‘Shout It Out’, ‘Couldn’t Believe It’, ‘When I Called’, ‘It Was Jesus’, ‘Won’t Be Returnin’ and ‘Rise And Be Healed’. Same custom New Jersey label as Living Sacrifice Band’s A Call To Brokeness. (The Archivist, 4th edition by Ken Scott).

I have not acquired this album yet. Thank you George for the front cover photo.
