Songchild (Venture PS-001) 1982
Here’s another fellow who appears to have drawn some inspiration from Dan Fogelberg with admirable results. Paul’s moods are often of a gentle acoustic nature, such as ‘Take Me To The Father’, the string-orchestrated title track, or the beautiful dreamy ‘Now And Then’, Attractive flute work flows gracefully alongside the acoustic guitars on ‘The Other Side Of Pain’. Heavier rock edges are set forth in ‘Sweet Lady’s Arms’ and ‘Something New’, the latter mildly similar to Fogelberg’s ‘Power Of Gold’. Paul on acoustic rhythm guitar and vocals, assisted by others on lead acoustic guitar, electric guitar, piano, organ, synthesizer, flute, bass and percussion. An independent release recorded in Painesville, Ohio. (The Archivist, 4th edition by Ken Scott).
I have not acquired this album yet. Thank you Donald for the rear cover photo.
