Together For Christmas (LMC-25) 1977?

Sorry no photo found for this one

This Christmas album kicks off with five seasonal tunes: two by Mr. Fox in his normal traditional voice, plus three prized jewels from his far more interesting flipped—out alter ego (‘Christmas Is A Jolly Time Of Year’, ‘Away In A Manger’ and ‘CHRISTMAS’). Side two gives us the usual sidelong routine we’ve come to expect from our little buddy, entitled ‘A Special Christmas’. Lil’ Markie wakes up Christmas morning in a frolicsome mood, giving exuberant commentary on the new-fallen snow, the Xmas presents, the turkey, the cranberry sauce, etc., all backed by playful piano accompaniment. You know for once I thought maybe Lil’ Markie was gonna leave me on an upbeat note. I mean how hard is it to screw up Christmas, right? Well sure enough, a few minutes into the sketch comes the bombshell: Grandma is killed in a car crash on the way to the festivities. Not only that, but this was the morning that Markie was gonna tell her about Jesus (Markie, you’re bummin’ me dude!) Fortunately there’s a silver lining: according to Grandpa, Grandma accepted Jesus the night before at a church service. That lifts Markie’s spirits as he dreams about heaven, dipping his toes in the river of life with Grandma and eating some of those “bwessed little perfect apples”. Keep those Kleenexes handy, cuz boy this one’s a weeper. Oh yeah, and Merry (sniff…) Christmas (sob. ..). (The Archivist, 4th edition by Ken Scott).
