Pilgrim (UK)

Low-budget British private press obscurity, an allegorical rock musical based on Bunyan’s The Pilgrim’s Progress. A rather sparse sound featuring five instrumentalists who handle electric guitar, bass, drums, piano, and organ, plus trumpet on three tracks. Four singers supply the roles of Pilgrim, Faithful, Evangelist and Mr. Worldly Wiseman, joined here and there by the boys of the Ewell Castle School Choir. At its best when the guitars are garagy and the organ is cheesy. A fun enjoyable album, very British sounding with a lot of the feel of projects on the Reflection label. Music by Peter Back, lyrics by John Andrews. (The Archivist, 4th edition by Ken Scott).

The members of the choir are listed on the rear cover.    diakoneo
