Praise The Lord In Many Voices Part II (Avant Garde AV 103) 1967?
More Carnegie Hall live performances. Side one is jazz pianist Mary Lou Burley (aka Mary Lou Williams) joined by other instrumentalists and a chorus. After a lengthy narrated introduction and a swinging Ramsey Lewis ‘In Crowd’-type instrumental, she performs three of her “modern spirituals” – excellent blendings of jazz and black gospel that’ll be sure to get your feet moving. The other side features Paul Quinlan following up his two fine lps with more of his catchy folk psalms, this time in a trio format of two guitars and upright bass, with harmonized vocals. (The Archivist, 4th edition by Ken Scott).
I have not acquired this album yet. Thank you Donald for the rear cover photo and the track list.
