Praise (Sound 80 LP-S80-675) 1978?
Admirable jazzy brass rock effort from nine-man outfit whose music often approaches the progressive FM style of hom-masters Chicago. Original often lengthy songs featuring creative arrangements of electric guitar, organ, piano, trombone, trumpet, alto sax, bass, bongos and drums. A couple mellow loungy moments with semi-smooth lead vocals, but it’s more than made up for by bustling tracks like ‘Goin’ Home’, ‘Promise’ and ‘Joy!’. Some good soloing opportunities, plus a couple welcome instances of fuzz guitar, especially that searing explosive outburst on the powerful hard-rocking ‘Man’s Depravity’ (part one of the 12-minute ‘Alleluia Suite’). Keep handy next to Liberation Suite, Crimson Bridge, Whitestone, etc. Recorded at Sound 80 studios in Minneapolis. (The Archivist, 4th edition by Ken Scott).
I have not acquired this album yet. Thank you Donald for the rear cover photo and the song listing.
