Praise Band - Lord (Fnt)

The Praise Band has a sound halfway between Nutshell/2nd Chapter and the early Maranatha Praise series. Rich male/female harmonies over-top some very pretty melodies, mostly in an acoustic setting that’s tastefully arranged with piano, organ, flute and string quartet. Not without a few electric light rock edges as on ‘Jesus, You Are The Way’. Some gorgeous classical guitar from Rick Lord, including the Keaggy—like instrumental ‘Spirit Wind’. Beautiful cover art of sheep and shepherd’s crook. Part of a Fairfax, Virginia ministry called Saturday Night Alive. Proof that praise music doesn’t have to be sappy. (The Archivist, 4th edition by Ken Scott).
