Sonshine (Today T504) 1972? Canada *
Sonshine shows significant improvement over their debut. They still have that happy brass—backed ‘One Tin Soldier’ sound, but they’ve added some rock, funk and jazz touches that often put them in the same camp as groups like Crimson Bridge. ‘Stonehead!’ has a sassy funk/soul thing going on while ‘Spread The News’ aims for a sunshiny Chicago groove. Jeremiah People’s ‘Taking Chances’, Laura Nyro’s ‘Save The Country’ and ‘Tum On To Jesus’ are all also notable. Organ and electric guitar used effectively alongside the horns. Based out of Willowdale, Ontario. (The Archivist, 4th edition by Ken Scott).
I have not acquired this album yet. Thank you Donald for the rear cover photo and the song list.
