Sonfolk (No label, S80-253-1954S) 1973?

Sonfolk (1)

One of those home-made records with a really cool front cover (a b&w drawing of a girl playing a guitar beneath a tree) – then you flip it over to the back and see about fifty teens smiling back at you. Sonfolk is a folk group as you might have guessed. When they all sing together they sound predictably bland as they generically run through stuff like ‘Pass It On’, ‘Here Comes Jesus’, ‘Two Hands’ and ‘Look All Around’. Listed here for the two male solo folk-singer tracks: a nice original song called ‘Why Did He Love Me?’ and a cover of John Denver’s ‘Gospel Changes’. From Zion Lutheran Church in Clear Lake, Iowa. (The Archivist, 4th edition by Ken Scott).
