Sonfire (SON 101) 1980
An appropriate band name for these four Minnesota gentlemen as they play fired-up Southern rock ‘n’ roll for Jesus. A slightly more refined sound than sizzlers like Damascus Road or Emmaus Road Band, still they crank it up pretty good on songs like ‘His Love Is Real’, ‘Searchin’ (I Hope You Find Him)’ and ‘Only On Sunday’. Some cool scratchy wah-wah guitar on the title track They also successfully dabble in boogie blues (‘Body Of Christ’) and Eagles-styled country rock (‘Mn Businessman’). Ample lead guitar throughout from Dan Reddan, sounding a little jazzy on the more progressive ‘He’s The Only One’ where he gets a particularly lengthy workout. A couple easy-going rural ballads fill out the lp. Produced by Steve Gamble of Gamble Folk. (The Archivist, 4th edition by Ken Scott).
I have not acquired this album yet. Thank you George for both the front and rear cover photo.
