Out Of The Darkness (Regal Ventures NR-5875) 1975?
Quaint home-spun album from male/female North Carolina group doing delicate piano-accompanied folk and light acoustic folk-rock with that warm 12-string jangle. Clearly amateur and low tech, yet tender and sincere. Most of Out Of The Darkness is nice enough, though there are a few less inspired tracks with a more traditional feel. Melodic original songs like ‘Ye Are The Light’ and ‘The People Stood Beholding’ hold up quite well, as do pleasant straight forward acoustic numbers such as ‘They Didn’t Know’ and ‘Sing Unto Jesus’. Closes with a medley of Elton John’s ‘Friends’ and John Denver’s ‘Friends With You’. (The Archivist, 4th edition by Ken Scott).
I have not acquired this album yet. Thank you Donald for the rear cover photo and the track listing.
