Gettin’ There From Here (Apostle Pete APS 5467) 1977
Gettin’ There From Here is clearly the better of the group’s two records. The piano and guitar combination defines their sound, but there’s also some electric guitar and mellotron this time. Half original material, half covers like ‘No Shortage’, ‘Easter Song’ and ‘Didn’t He Shine’. The mellotron is quite effective on the opening ‘Our Love’ where it’s joined by some attractive acoustic guitar work. The electric guitar springs to life on the eight-minute closer ‘The Trail’, a hard-edged track that could stand proudly beside groups like Phoenix Sonshine and Parable. Don’t confuse with a larger contemporary gospel ensemble of the same name. (The Archivist, 4th edition by Ken Scott).
I have not acquired this album yet. Thank you George for both the front and the rear cover photos.
