Footprints On The Water (Chapel Lane RWA-1) 1979 UK *
Competent male UK outfit with smooth spacious Glad-like harmonies leading the way on a number of styles, including hard arena rock (‘What If He Came Today’), horn—inflected disco (‘Tell Me Jesus’) and retro rock with a Buddy Holly twist (‘Rocking Preacher’). ‘Sign Of The Times’, ‘Face To Face’ and ‘Roundabout’ are all pleasant soft easy acoustic ballads, sometimes touched with watery electric guitar reminiscent of Bread Synthetic tom-toms turn up on a couple tracks. The closing dynamic song ‘Very Good Friend’ ranks up there with best of Glad. Gate-fold cover. (The Archivist, 4th edition by Ken Scott).
I have not acquired this album yet. Thank you Donald for the inside gate-fold and rear cover photos and the track listing.
