Faith, Folk & Festivity (Galliard CAL 4016) 1971 UK *
Another fine very British-sounding folk endeavor from Mr. Smith and company featuring a similar mix of original songs, traditional tunes and the always welcome Sydney Carter (‘Bird Of Heaven’ and ‘The Crow On The Cradle’). Joined this time by The Common Round, a six—person folk group (four guys, two girls), pictured on the back with three guitars, upright bass, maracas, and tambourine. The gals in particular have lovely voices. ‘Let The Cosmos Ring’, ‘Go, Prophet, Go!’, ‘Down Huddersfield Road’, ‘Pop Goes The Money’, ‘The Killer’ and ‘How Can I Keep From Singing’ are some of the fifteen titles included here. (The Archivist, 4th edition by Ken Scott).
I have not acquired this album yet.
