Faith Folk And Clarity (Pilgrim JLP 148) 1968 UK *

Smith, Peter & The Kinfolk - Faith, Folk & Clarity

A fine collection of folk spirituals, transitional, hymns, and other songs including ‘This Little Light Of Mine’, ‘Let Us Break Bread Together’, ‘The Angel Rolled The Stone Away’, Seeger’s ‘Turn Turn Tum’, Guthrie’s ‘Jesus Christ Was A Man’, some Sidney Carter songs, all in a wholesome simple-strummed acoustic presentation. Peter Smith has a nice gentle voice well suited to folk music and he gets several solo opportunities. Other times he’s backed by the three girls and three boys that make up The Kinfolk, giving a mild Seekers-ish tone to the music. Distinctive British and distinctively ‘60s.   (The Archivist, 4th edition by Ken Scott).
